The short version
unstackd is a one-person software studio in Seoul, run by Bumjin Cho. It has shipped two things: Stacktube, a subscription service that turns YouTube channels into structured knowledge notes, and Ship It, a 314-page book that records how Stacktube was built by someone who had never opened a terminal before this spring.
The book ends the day the service went live. It is not a success story, and it keeps the numbers most founder accounts leave out.

Structure. Six parts — planning, design, build, launch, operation, reflection — plus appendices A–J: comparison tables for AI coding tools, models, payment providers and hosting; design-document templates; a glossary; command cards; and checklists.
On AI. The book was written in Korean. The English and Japanese editions were produced with AI-assisted translation and editing, reviewed and approved by the author. The use of AI is disclosed to Amazon and to the book's other retailers. Saying so up front seemed more consistent than not: the book is about a non-developer going the whole way with AI tools.
A companion site (https://unstackd.io/en/book/companion) keeps the fast-moving numbers — tool prices, model names, plan tiers — current, because a book cannot.
About Stacktube
Stacktube is the product the book documents, and it is live.
Instead of summarizing single videos, it watches the YouTube channels you choose, runs a transcript-first AI analysis of each new upload, and files a structured note with key ideas and timestamped references. Over weeks, a library builds itself.

Things we are careful about
Being precise here is cheaper than being corrected later.
- Stacktube reads transcripts. When visual analysis is enabled, the video URL is passed to the model directly; the video itself is not stored on our servers.
- Note quality varies with the source. A dense 40-minute lecture produces a better note than a 3-minute clip with little speech. Shorts are skipped.
- Resurfacing brings a note back at 21, 90, 180 and 365 days — one randomly chosen note within a ±12-hour window, not every note every time.
- The gallery notes are real output, not hand-edited examples. Each one links to the original video.
